How is building age counted?
Age normally counts from the date BD issued the occupation permit. Blocks of one estate can have different permits, so their ages can differ. RVD's 'year built' sometimes differs by a year; we show both where we have them.
Age matters for inspections: buildings aged 30+ can be selected for the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme, and 10+ for the Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme. See our guide.
