FAQ常見問題

How is a building's age worked out?

We count from the occupation permit (OP) date in BD's building register: full years since the OP was issued. Blocks in one development can have different OP dates, so each block is counted separately. Use the age tool

At what age do mandatory inspections apply?

According to BD, MBIS covers private buildings aged 30 or more and MWIS those aged 10 or more (domestic buildings of 3 storeys or fewer are exempt). BD selects buildings for statutory notices; reaching the age does not trigger one automatically. BD: MBIS

How do I check a building for removal orders?

Search the building here to see the order and notice counts in BD's open data. To confirm, use BD's orders search or a Land Registry search: registered orders show up there. BD orders search

Does a listed order mean it is still outstanding?

Not necessarily. BD's open data only gives, per block, the number of orders issued since 1 May 2023 and the number complied with, withdrawn or superseded since 1 May 2024, with no per-order dates or status. We never claim an order is outstanding; check with BD. About the data
