Buildings Department orders and notices

This block is not on BD's published order and notice lists (issued since May 2023, complied since May 2024).

These are BD's cumulative counts, not the number still outstanding, and earlier orders are not on the lists. Before a purchase, check BD's orders search, the MBIS/MWIS notice search and a land search. See our guide to inspections and orders.

Inspection scheme age thresholds

  • Reached the 30-year age threshold of the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (domestic buildings of 3 storeys or fewer are exempt); BD may serve an inspection notice.
  • Reached the 10-year age threshold of the Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme (same exemption).

Age counts from the occupation permit date; BD selects buildings for notices by risk. See BD: MBIS.
